The svn migration took a long time but was fairly painless, and the new laptop is a much faster server than my old one. I’ve had a few more hardware hiccups this week including my old UPS’s battery finally expiring, but things are running smoothly again.
I realized while working on some music for Eldritch 2 last weekend that I’ve created a bit of a problem for myself: I have a lot of tools and workflows that are custom-built for the kinds of games I like to make and the way I like to make them (good!), and I don’t use them all often enough to remember how they work anymore (bad!). In particular, my texture and music generator languages have a bunch of functions with a bunch of parameters and I am constantly switching over to Visual Studio to see how they were implemented.
So in the spirit of improving my tools and workflows before getting into production, I am spending a good chunk of this weekend writing documentation for myself, and doing the tedious but useful work of adding all my texture and music functions to my Notepad++ autocomplete file.
Someday I will get back to, y’know, making a game, but not today.
